Who doesn't love honey. Or bees. I love both, so when I was asked to create branding for Tasmanian Apairy, I was just a little excited. I'm looking forward to seeing the brand on their product in the near future!
This is a very overdue post about a project I was privileged to work on earlier this year, the RACV Tiny Home. I worked with Maddison Architects to create the soft furnishings for the RACV Tiny Home, with stunning wool felt, Australian pure wool and amazing linens, I was in natural fibre heaven. For more images of my work insitu, feel free to check out The Design Files.
This little blanket was made for a beautiful new little bundle that isn't very new or little anymore, but definitely still beautiful! I do love a good zig zag crochet blanket, I still use my favourite one from my childhood.
Re-usable / recyclable Christmas crackers complete with matching Christmas crowns, personalised quotes and mini gifts.
My littlens wanted crackers on the table again this year, and I immediately did the metaphoric eye roll inside my head. Another year of crap jokes, lame 'inspirations' and rubbish plastic gifts.
This led me to my usual thought of "I can do better" which really should be followed by that classic meme "why buy it for $2 when I can make it for $90". That was pretty much exactly this situation. Except I can flat pack them and use them again next year - making them worthwhile and cost effective in the end, right?...
This is the final piece in my 'seasons' collection of crochet art. This one is titled 'Spring Bulbs' and is inspired by the rows of tulips at the Tesselaar Tulip farm. I remember as a child, my mum pouring over the bulb catalogues when they came out each season, trying to pick the additions for that year. With my children being half Dutch, it's only fitting that one of my favourite flowers is now the tulip.
'Spring Bulbs' represents those happy rows of brightly coloured tulips against the clear crisp Spring sky.
I'm a bit of a fan girl when it comes to the bees. Let's face it without them we are just a bit screwed. Pesticides, and the far too common use of pesticides and insecticides irritate me, considerably. Sign any petition you can encouraging the banning of harmful pesticides and let's "save the bees" together!
I have a new project - creating designs for people in my life. These are how I see their personality combined with their own tastes (it would be preferable that they enjoy the design!) A part of me wishes my brain wouldn't conceive ideas like this because I can never see the end, and never reach completion. Regardless, this one is for my sis. Alle xx
'Summer Ocean' and 'Autumn Leaves' are hanging with 'Winter Fireplace' now.
This is the third of this series of four. Each season has it's own special joy for me, these works are representations of those joys.
My favourite fireplace was the open fireplace at my childhood holiday home, so many special memories with so many people. Hours of fast scrabble and looking though old Country Life and Boating magazines whilst watching the sea roll in. This fireplace would 'pop' and crackle regularly and the woollen rug would often smoulder from the embers. These works remind me of that old shag pile rug.
